School Options

Last November Park developed a school survey to gather information about the children in your family and the schooling options you had chosen for your children.   This survey came about because a couple of Park moms approached me with the idea of a survey.  They told me that they and many other parents are starting the application process for preschools for their children to attend next year.  But there are so many things to consider and so many options to choose from: home schools, public schools, private schools, the Christian Heritage Academy which opens at Park in fall 2010, etc.

Questions like these were on their hearts:  Wouldn’t it be great if we could find out what schools and preschools Park parents are sending their kids to and talk to those parents about the experience their kids are having? Wouldn’t it be great if we could find out which Park parents are homeschooling and be able to talk to them and ask them questions about why they chose to this option and how they go about it? How many children are preschool and school age at Park?

Many thanks to all who responded to the survey.  Actually, 136 of you did, which is very high rate of participation!  Here are a few highlights from the responses we collected:

  • 273 children were accounted for by respondents.  Of those children, 136 were age 3 or under and 115 age 4 to 18.  (not everyone responded to the age question)

  • 145 children attend school and 121 do not attend school. (these 2 statistics include home schooled children)

  • 14 of the respondents home school;  31 send their children to private schools;  21 send their children to public schools.

  • The total number of schools that Park families have experience with is 52!

  • When asked if they were sending their children to the new CHA which opens at Park in the fall of 2010, 20 respondents answered YES and 42 answered UNDECIDED.

Don't see your school?  We will periodically reissue the schooling survey.  Please be sure to fill it out so your school is recognized.
